Reflections: Ecopsychology

Dogs walking through woods

Over the past year, I've made it a habit to walk through the woods of Cranbury Park with my dogs almost every day. There's something deeply comforting about being surrounded by the trees, especially for my nerves. While the peak of greenery and pleasant weather certainly has its charm, there's a special kind of beauty in the simplicity of winter when the trees stand bare.

Nature has this incredible ability to reflect and teach us, but only if we slow down, observe, and truly listen. The trees, with their patient rhythm of growth and renewal, remind us to take things one step at a time on our own healing journey. They don't rush the arrival of summer's vibrant foliage, and we shouldn't rush our own process either.

As autumn paints the landscape in warm hues, it nudges us to reflect on what we need to let go of. Throughout the quiet of winter, we give ourselves permission to adjust to shedding old layers, preparing for the fresh start that spring brings. And as spring breathes new life into everything around us, we welcome the chance for growth and transformation.

Even in the midst of summer's brilliance, we remember to take a moment to appreciate the fruits of our labor, recognizing our own worthiness to enjoy the rewards of our efforts.

Truly, nature is a reflection of our inner world, offering guidance and wisdom to those who are willing to listen.
