Background and Experience
I’m Jordan Spector, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Yoga Therapist, licensed in both Connecticut and Colorado. I earned my Master's in Social Work from the Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2018, the same year I became a certified Trauma-Informed Yoga Instructor.

As a therapist, I resonate with the concept of the "Wounded Healer," as Carl Jung described it. Having navigated my own journey through healing from complex childhood trauma, I’ve dedicated myself to helping others achieve the same freedom of the past and connection to the presence. This path has made me the empathic and intuitive therapist that I am today.

While pursuing my Master's in Social Work, I discovered the transformative role yoga can play in healing the nervous system from trauma. My thesis project focused on this integration, with me as my own subject. This experience ignited my passion to blend somatic work and psychotherapy, leading me to become certified in Trauma-Informed Yoga and many other somatic modalities. I do not believe that we can treat the mind without acknowledging what is held in the body.

I gained invaluable experience working in several inpatient psychiatric hospitals, where I developed crisis management skills and deepened my expertise in somatic psychotherapy. It was in these high-acuity settings—working with veterans, individuals with dual diagnoses, and those facing significant mental health challenges—that I witnessed the profound impact of the mind/body connection and somatic therapies on nervous system regulation. These experiences inspired me to expand my practice beyond inpatient care, offering more personalized, individualized therapy to those seeking healing.

While I specialize in helping individuals navigate complex trauma, I am committed to supporting anyone on their journey to better mental health and a more fulfilling life.

My approach combines evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as a core cognitive intervention, alongside yoga therapy and other somatic practices such as Somatic Experiencing and Polyvagal Theory. I am also trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and utilize trauma-informed approaches like Internal Family Systems (IFS).

As a lifelong student, I continuously engage in training and seminars to enhance my skills as a therapist.

Having personally experienced the transformative power of somatic psychotherapy, I am deeply committed to supporting you on your own path toward healing, growth, and a more present-minded life. With compassion and understanding, I am here to walk alongside you as you explore your journey toward greater well-being.
